The group was created in 1978 by Garner Ted Armstrong (1930-2003), the son of the founder of the Worldwide Church of God, Herbert W. Armstrong. After some sexual impropriety, Garner Ted Armstrong was removed in 1998. The group produces a television program called Armor of God.
The group has churches in the United States, Canada, Jamaica, Ireland, Australia and the Philippines.
